Institutional Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), Daffodil International University (DIU) and Department of English, DIU jointly organized a workshop on “Pedagogy in Theory & Practice” on April 24, 2016 at DIU auditorium.
Professor A.M.M. Hamidur Rahman, Dean, Faculty of Humanities & Social Science, DIU graced the workshop as the Chief Guest while Prof. Muhammad Mahboob Ali, Ph.D, Director, Institutional Quality Assurance Cell, DIU was present as the Special Guest of the workshop. The Resource Person of the workshop was Ms. Saptaparna Roy, Asst. Professor and International Subject Matter Expert on pedagogy from India. Ms. Umme Kulsum, Assistant Professor & Head, Department of English, DIU chaired the whole workshop.
The resource person in her presentation put emphasis on the issues such as Pedagogy for ELT and English Literature in practice, especially Gender Studies citing examples from Shakespeare and Mahasweta Debi , curriculum for better learning, Graphics Novels, and Moodle for Course Objectives and Outcomes.
The Chief Guest and the Special Guest of the workshop also underscored the need for implementing the English pedagogy in real practice. Among others, Syed Mizanur Rahman, Associate Professor & Head, Department of Journalism & Mass Communication, DIU; and Professor Dr. Shusil Kumar Das, Department of English, DIU were present in the workshop. Some other faculty members of Department of Business Administration, Journalism & Mass Communication, Department of English, and Law also took part in the workshop.
