An International QA Working Team consisting of a 7-member high profile and globally acclaimed quality assurance experts from the Association of the Universities of Asia and the Pacific (AUAP) visited Daffodil International University (DIU) during 9-12 February 2018. The international QA team comprised of QA experts from different parts of the world like USA, Philippines, Indonesia, Malaysia and Thailand. It may be noted that the Association of Universities of Asia and the Pacific (AUAP) is an association of university chief executives from higher education institutions in the Asia Pacific and around the world. It is a platform for interaction and collaboration among members and the voice of universities in Asia and the Pacific. The team is working on developing an instrument for international accreditation of university programs.

In view of maximizing the benefits from interaction with internationally accredited QA experts, IQAC, DIU organized an event, naming, ‘Sharing the Experiences of Quality Education: Asian Perspective’ on 10 February, 2018, where Professor Dr. Mohammad Yousuf Ali Mollah, Member, UGC Bangladesh graced the occasion as Chief Guest and Dr. Ahmed Tazmeen, Quality Assurance Specialist, QAU, UGC and Professor Dr. Mahbub Ahsan Khan, Quality Assurance Specialist, QAU, UGC have attended the meeting as ‘Guest of Honor’. Professor. Dr. Yousuf Mahbubul Islam, Vice Chancellor, DIU chaired the event and the Professor Dr. A. K.M. Fazlul Haque, Director, IQAC, DIU conducted the workshop. From international QA team, Professor Dr. Ricardo P. Pama attended the workshop as Special Guest. Guests discusses on diverse issues relating to the QA mechanisms with reference to global practices. Professor Dr. Md. Fokhray Hossain, Director, International Affairs, DIU also speaks at the workshop, focusing QA in HEIs. Dr. Sk. Abdul Kader Arafin, Additional Director, IQAC, DIU has anchored the programme.
The meeting discussed on the various aspects of international best practices of QA domain like developing accreditation instruments, funding options for both public and private universities, pitfalls of QA in AUAP member countries, international collaboration to work together with universities in the area of QA activities. AUAP representatives have also put emphasis on multicultural quality assurance development and accreditation mechanism. Besides, focusing these areas, the seminar also addressed other issues relating to IQAC in Bangladesh and the National Accreditation Council Framework.
Several Directors and Additional Directors of IQAC of different universities were present and they took part in discussion session regarding QA activities, accreditation, and global scenario of QA mechanism. UGC high officials and international QA team responded at their queries which illuminates the programme. Students of different departments of Daffodil International University were present to educate themselves on this area.
