Dr. Sk. Abdul Kader Arafin, new Additional Director, Institutional Quality Assurance Cell as well as the Associate Professor, Department of General Educational Development, Daffodil International University (DIU) participated in the “Training for Professional Development on Quality Assurance in Higher Education” during 9-20 July, 2017 at Brac CDM, Rajendrapur, Gazipur. The training was organized by the Ministry of Education, Government of Bangladesh with the assistance of the World Bank through HEQEP, QAU and UGC-Bangladesh for the Directors and Additional Directors of Institutional Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of different public and private universities of Bangladesh. The objective of the training was to build the capacity of the quality assurance practitioners to face the global challenges of 21st century in producing better quality graduates in Bangladesh so that those students can be able to contribute anywhere in the world with their standard quality footings.

A number of sessions on different facts, related to Quality Assurance (QA) in Higher Education, were conducted and facilitated by Nationally and Internationally recognized Quality Experts in the field of Higher Education, like: Professor Dr. Sanjoy Kumar Adhikary, Head, Quality Assurance Unit (QAU), UGC, Bangladesh; Prof. Colin N. Peiris, Ph.D, Quality Assurance Expert and one of the founders of QAA Council of Sri Lanka; Professor Dr. S. M. Kabir, Professor of Marketing, Rajshahi University and former quality assurance expert of UGC, Bangladesh and Professor Dr. Mohammad Rafiqul Islam, Department of Naval Architecture & Marine Engineering (NAME), Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) and former quality assurance expert of UGC, Bangladesh.

Total 34 Directors and Additional Directors of IQAC from 17 different public and private universities took part in different workshops during the 12 days long training program. After successfully completion of the 12 days long training program, all the participants were provided with a certificate by QAU, HEQEP, UGC-Bangladesh in recognition of their participation, contribution and dedicated efforts towards ensuring quality culture in higher education.
