IQAC Organized the Workshop on “Mechanism for the Development and Implementation of Outcome-based Course Curriculum”

Institutional Quality Assurance Cell of Daffodil International University organized the workshop on “Mechanism for the Development and Implementation of Outcome-based Course Curriculum” on 23rd November, 2017 at the Conference room, Daffodil Tower-4, Daffodil International University. The focal persons of each program self-assessment department under IQAC, took part in the workshop. The workshop was chaired by Professor Dr. Md. Fokhray Hossain, Director, IQAC, DIU while Md. Taslim Arefin, Associate Professor & self-assessment committee Member, Department of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering, DIU made a presentation on the mechanism for the development and implementation of outcome-based course curriculum at program level as key resource person. Dr. Sk. Abdul Kader Arafin, Additional Director, IQAC, DIU remained present as the session discussant of the workshop.

The resource person, in his presentation, highlighted the mechanism of developing outcome-based course curriculum on the basis of the defined ten points, i.e. Vision of the program; Mission of the program; Program objectives; Learning outcome; Generic skills/Graduate Profile; Curriculum structure; Course schedule; Teaching strategy; Assessment strategy and Course profile.

He thoroughly discussed all the aspects of the outcome-based course curriculum and showed the significance of practicing OBTL to ensure and enhance quality of tertiary level education. He also put emphasis on Mapping the Course Outcomes (COs) with the Program Outcomes (POs); Question Assessment according to Bloom’s Cognitive Domain and RUBRIC or Marking Scheme. Besides, he encouraged faculty members to prepare lesson plan in prescribed format so that a uniform lesson plan can be followed in entire university.

After the presentation, all the participants took part in open discussion. Later on, Director, IQAC, DIU instructed the focal persons of each SA department to develop the outcome-based course curriculum as per prescribed format described in the workshop as early as possible and complete the given template for monitoring the implementation of improvement plan and submit both the documents to IQAC office by the end of this year.
