IQAC organizes two-day workshop on "Efficient and Effective Improvement Plan at the Program level"

Institutional Quality Assurance Cell of Daffodil International University, under its strive to enhance quality of education and its quality culture in the university, organizes a two-day workshop on "Efficient and Effective Improvement Plan at the Program level" which was incepted on 4 May, 2017 at its own premises with the participation of the conveners and members of self assessment committees under IQAC, DIU.

The objective of the workshop is to provide the theoretical underpinnings that will support quality framework development in Bangladesh and in particular peer review and accreditation system; train a group of senior academics with the skills required for conducting training programs both for colleagues in their own university and/or for QA personnel in other institutions of higher education nationally or regionally in general QA systems and processes; and equip participants with the knowledge and expertise on outcome based education including curriculum development, delivery and assessment.

Professor Dr. Muhammad Mahboob Ali, member of resource persons' pool on Outcome-based Education, Quality Assurance and Accreditation of QAU, UGC & Professor, Dhaka School of Economics and former Director, IQAC, DIU was the resource person while Professor Dr. Md. Fokhray Hossain, Director, IQAC, DIU, chaired the whole session of the workshop.

At the outset, all Heads of SA committees in first phase under IQAC made a short presentation on their formulated improvement plan and their implementation status as per request of the resource person. After that, the resource person delivered guidelines and effective ways to implement the improvement plan with limited resources. He also highlighted the issues like: National Qualifications Framework of Bangladesh; Outcome Based Education –Curriculum Design; Outcome Based Education –Curriculum Delivery and Outcome Based Education –Assessment etc. Total five groups were formed with the participants to brainstorm, solve some practical exercises and present the output of group discussion.

Among others, DIU Librarian, Additional Director, IQAC, DIU; Conveners and members of self assessment committees under IQAC, DIU; Student Counselor; IQAC officials and representative of IT section were present in the workshop. The second day of the workshop will be held on 18 May, 2017 with an emphasis to readiness for national qualification framework and dynamic process of changing education system.
